Descripción
Sumario:Both the United States and the European Union (EU) maintain that they are committed to upholding individual privacy rights and ensuring the protection of personal data. Nevertheless, data privacy and protection issues have long been sticking points in US - EU economic and security relations, in part because of differences in US and EU data privacy approaches and legal regimes. This book examines data privacy and protection in the EU and the US. It also discusses the 5th Amendment in Congressional investigations, provides an introduction to the four access laws that are focused on information access in the US federal government, giving a list of resources related to transparency, secrecy, access and nondisclosure, and finally, includes a discussion on whether aliens in immigration proceeds can be detained indefinitely in the United States.
