Sumario:The Illuminated Chronicle (formerly called the Vienna Chronicle), an illustrated chronicle, written in 1358, represents the international artistic style at the royal court of Louis I of Hungary. The 147 pictures of the chronicle are great source of information on medieval cultural history, costume, and court life in the fourteenth century. The artistic value of the miniatures is quite high, the characters are drawn with detail and with knowledge of anatomy. 42 of the miniatures are inserted into the text of the volume. The fourteenthcentury chronicle composition, presented here in a new editio.
