Descripción
Sumario:"Konon von Bidana is the apostle of the rugged landscape of Isauria: after Paul failed, the gospel of Christ comes to the people of the mountains through Konon, a villager from the Tauros Mountains who hardly speaks Greek, but who speaks the local language. He pacifies the notoriously troubled region by driving out demons. Being dragged to court by a Roman governor, he is tried as a Christian under torture - but his Isaurian disciples take up arms and free the bloody miracle worker from the torture bench. At least, that is how it depicts Konon's late ancient Greek martyrdom, which is edited, translated and introduced in this volume. So even if Konon did not die as a martyr, his cult spread first in Asia Minor and then in the wider Mediterranean; the Emperor Zenon, who also comes from Tauros, played a large part in this. The undisputed center of Konon's worship remained his home, Isauria. Here, too, his vita seems to have been written before it spread in Greek manuscripts and was translated into many Old World languages, including Coptic, Armenian and - later - Old Church Slavonic." -- from Amazon.com, translated via Google translation.
