Focusing on the first decade of the 21st century, Palmer looks at how this labor is entangled within digitization processes, economic crises, and the political logic of the so-called "war on terror." She uses an institutional history of conflict correspondence to frame five case studies that examine a different instance in which a print or television correspondent slipped into the frame and received intense public scrutiny because of an incident associated with the labor of war reporting.
