Descripción
Sumario:Explores the Geographic Unified Commands: U.S. European Command at Patch Barracks in Stuttgart-Vaihingen, Germany; U.S. Pacific Command at Camp Smith, Hawaii; U.S. Southern Command at Miami, Florida; U.S. Central Command at Tampa, Florida; U.S. Northern Command at Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado; and U.S. Africa Command at Kelley Barracks in Stuttgart-Möhringen, Germany. These six unified commands form the basis of U.S. presence and activities around the globe. This volume uses unclassified, publicly available information to describe and analyze the unified geographic, or regional, commands. Congressional testimony, combatant command websites on the World Wide Web, discussions with civilians and officers who have served in the commands, and the few books on the topic form the research base, along with open source history of the creation of the Goldwater-Nichols Military Reform Act of 1986, as well as its predecessor and successor legislation.
