Sumario:This book analyzes the influence and importance of the political convictions from the Brazilian writer Jorge Amado in the most representative phase of his literary career. The works presented in this book deal with social and political themes found within Amado's novels from 1930-1950. More explicitly the book examines how Amado was influenced by communist ideology and employed literary strategies to legitimize his thought. In addition the book compares Amado's representations of Brazilian people's lives with political speeches during Getulio Vargas' Estado Novo while providing a lumpenproleta.
