Sumario:"If there were a single question that could unite educational psychologists, it might be this: How can our understanding of psychology be used to improve the experiences of all who are involved in the educational endeavor? That is the theme that runs through all 64 chapters in the three volumes that this handbook comprises. Our target audience includes researchers and graduate students, but this handbook is also strongly targeted toward teachers, school administrators, school psychologists, educational consultants and other educational professionals, and policymakers. The volumes in this handbook present the state of the science and evidence for research-based practice in the field and help set the standard for the application of educational psychology in education. In addition, unresolved and controversial issues are explored, and areas requiring further theoretical and research development critical to the field are identified across a broad array of topics. The 20 chapters in Volume 1 address the past, present, and future of educational psychology; emerging design and data analysis approaches; some of the most critical theories driving research and practice today; research on critical constructs in research and practice that educational psychology has addressed; and emerging issues and cutting-edge topics in educational psychology. Across these chapters, authors typically present a brief history of their topic, summarize the state of the science, thoughtfully present applications and implications for research and practice, and examine directions for further refinement and future research"--Introduction.
