Sumario:What can be done to ensure that the best use is made of research findings? How can the value of individual projects and programmes be assessed? A great deal of research is currently commissioned by government departments and other funding bodies. Such research can prove invaluable for policy-making and for practice. Far too often, though, the results are not found to be useful or are not used. This book focuses on how to make research more useful. It looks in detail at the processes of both research dissemination and use. Some attention is also given to how to assess the use of research. This report was commissioned by the Department of Health, and it is based on extensive discussions with research users, managers and researchers themselves. The result contains ideas about the purpose and outcomes of research. Practical recommendations are offered for research managers and potential research users
