Sumario:People catch large numbers of the shellfish for food or pick up the shells on the beach to make door curtains. As a result, the modern hermit crabs in Kenting National Park in Taiwan have a brand new style. They take trash as their home, such like plastic containers, the mouth of the broken glass bottles, light bulbs…etc. Hermit crabs cannot hide inside the shells to guard the entrances whenever they face danger, and aren’t able to grip the shells to prevent themselves from being dragged outside. In addition, when the breeding season comes, land-living hermit crabs have to return to the sea for breeding. The journey is the most dangerous moment in their life. Not only they climb up the low walls and gutter, but also the fatal high way. They often die under the wheels.
