Descripción
Notas:In seventeenth century Spain, carved and painted wooden sculpture attained an astonishing naturalism, but because many masterpieces remain objects of religious devotion, this extraordinary art form is barely known outside Spain. This fascinating Spanish art DVD explores the traditions and rituals surrounding these works and reveals how, through the close collaboration of sculptors and painters, they played a key role in some of the most famous paintings in Spanish history.
This art DVD includes exclusive location footage of the sculptures in situ and of their part in Holy Week processions. It alsoexplains why these sculptures appear so real and includes a behind-the-scenes look at how they continue to be made.
