Sumario:Due to its geographical position, Morocco plays an important strategic role in commercial traffic which crosses the Strait of Gibraltar. It is a country open to international cooperation. It maintains friendly relations with most North African Countries, with the exception of Algeria, with which it still has several disputes to resolve. This article gives an account of the country’s history, its economy and presents the situation of its civil society. Relations between Morocco and the Catholic Church are regulated by an «Agreement» from 1984. At the invitation of the current sovereign Muhammad VI, Pope Francis will visit the Country on 30 and 31 March, 2019.
