Sumario:Pain in children is a public health problem of great importance in almost the entire world. Although there is knowledge and means to alleviate it, children's pain is often not recognized, ignored, or even denied. These guidelines address the pharmacological treatment of persistent pain in children with medical diseases. They formulate several clinical recommendations, and in particular a biphasic pharmacotherapeutic approach is presented. Likewise, it points out necessary policy changes and priority research areas in the future.
