Sumario:In Bioinformatics, we can find a variety of problems which are affected by huge processing times and memory/storage consumption, due to the large size of biological data sets and the inherent complexity of biological problems. In fact, Bioinformatics is one of the most exciting research areas in which Parallelism finds application. Successful examples are mpiBLAST, RAxML-HPC or ClustalW-MPI, among many others. In conclusion, Bioinformatics allows and encourages the application of many different parallelism-based technologies. In this sense, PBio 2018 offered a set of original, high-quality research works, clearly focused on the application of Parallelism to different Bioinformatics problems.
