Sumario:The book is the second volume of a lexical reference work (Volume 1: Styria was published in 2008), which, in the sense of basic research in literary studies, tries for the first time to offer a systematic, comprehensive documentation of the literary life of Austria during the era of National Socialism (1938-1945) . From a methodological point of view, it is intended to open access to literary events that belonged to the official system of the Third Reich, which was promoted, or at least temporarily tolerated, by the governing bodies of the cultural establishment, without restrictive, judgmental recourse to the formation of canons Analysis and interpretation Provide materials on the conditions of formation and effect. Therefore, the investigation is based on a functional understanding of literature and includes the essential institutionalized factors of the literary communication system: authors and their works (including radio and film) as well as German scholars, cultural-political steering bodies (funding / censorship, literature prizes), literary associations, media (Publishers, theater, radio). For the testing of such a methodical approach, the dictatorship of the Third Reich, through the total recording of the creative and media activity directed at the public by the Reich Chamber of Culture in 1938, rarely offers good sources. Our systematic research into the phase from 1938-1945 strives for a comprehensive description of the institutions of the literary system and the integration of the authors. For this purpose, apart from pamphlets in the area of personal files, primarily the holdings of the Federal Archives Berlin, Dept. German Reich (former BDC) and the so-called "Gau files" were searched (most of the personal data refers to the authors' own information). The most important archival basis for the description of the institutions are files from the Federal Archives Koblenz (now in the BA Berlin) and the Vienna City and State Archives. In the collection of material, both the pre- and post-history are partially systematically included in order to show continuities and breaks. Literature prizes and honors that illustrate the integration of a writer into the various systems from the monarchy to the Second Republic are particularly significant. Therefore, as far as we know, we have listed them in their entirety. The first attempt to collect as many literary associations as possible in Austria and anthologies of the German-speaking area (as far as texts by Austrians were included) covers the period from 1933-1945. The post-history is documented not only through literary prizes and honors, but also through the inclusion of the aforementioned "Gauakten" in the Austrian State Archives (Archive of the Republic). According to the methodical concern, To lexically open up a literary sub-system of the German-speaking area in its institutionalized factors, a new type of manual is attempted, a specific combination of personal lexicon and non-fiction dictionary, which should be networked into a whole. Another important factor for the type of presentation resulted from the fact of the National Socialist division of Austria into seven "imperial direct" districts or subsystems of the Nazi state.
