Sumario:Since the end of the 1980s, contemporary art from Africa has been an indispensable part of major exhibitions in Europe and America. Nevertheless, there is still little to be learned about artists from this continent today. Based on a stay of several months and intensive research, the author introduces 14 contemporary artists from Cote d "Ivoire and Benin. Their works are explained using excerpts from conversations and explanations of their concepts and considerations. In this way, the reader is encouraged to participate in depth to deal with these various forms of expression - from pictures to sculptures and masks made from waste products to installations - addressing the educational situation as well as the environment, the art world in which the artists live and work creatively.
