Sumario: | This work is a collection of American constitutional documents produced during the 17th and 18th centuries. The hundred documents that make up the corpus share certain common characteristics. Desdesdes their temporal aspect, all occurred prior to the writing of the Constitution of the United States of 1787. Although many were produced in England, all are directly related to the British colonies that initially formed the United States and with them once they became independent. thus marking a clear spatial limit. All are legal in nature: some in their own way as laws and statutes, and others as private contracts that transfer powers attributed by the former. All have, moreover, a constitutional character; that is, they deal with the organization of power or the recognition of rights and freedoms. For the convenience of readers, they are presented in their original version in English and translated into Spanish. |
