Sumario:This book is devoted to the inventory and analysis of šī‘ite poetic works up to the third century of the Hegira. The work of our colleague Taïeb El-Achèche is the fruit of a long and patient research on the “minor” šī`ite poets, so called because the authors of anthologies disdained them or because the census takers did not judge them. worthy of having a dīwān in their name, either because their poetic gifts were too modest, or their verses too scattered in the general works of adab and heresiography, in historical chronicles or in the biographical sums devoted to a certain doctrine, such legal school or branch of knowledge. In this regard, the 229 or so entries grouped together in this work constitute, in turn, a specialized biographical dictionary bringing together established poets such as al-Kumayt al-Asadī or al-Sayyid al-Himyarī, and a host of other figures. that circumstance, the ardour of a fight, the lamentation of a martyr, have erected, for a time and adventure, into poets.
