Sumario:Manuel Díaz Rodríguez was a writer, physician, journalist, and politician. He is considered by many scholars as one of the greatest representatives of Spanish American modernist prose. In 1902 he published Sangre patricia, and later Camino de perfección, a book which exposes the realization of his literary ideal: the perfect fit between the idea and the word. In 1909 he became director of the newspaper El Progresista and was appointed rector of the Central University of Venezuela. Throughout his life he held many high ranking positions in academia and literature.
