Sumario:The literature focusing on major barriers to health care of the elderly is critically reviewed in this book. The authors, all experienced researchers, have synthesized information for use by those who shape the health care system. Each focuses on a specific problem, examining in depth the existing information on a particular area of concern. Following an explicit and rigorous methodology known as `information synthesis',contributors examine three categories of issues: elements, organization and delivery services in the long-term care system social support programmes for the elderly and clinical care issues and physician education. This is an important source of information for policy and decision makers in the areas of health and gerontology, pointing to areas for future research.
