Sumario:Liberata was a real-life character. Slave, then free, mother as a slave and mother already released, finally defunct, all in the first half of the 19th century. In this book, Liberata is almost fiction, or rather, an author of fiction. She proposes the enigma of her life, as recorded in the centenary documents kept by the National Archives in Rio de Janeiro, and she guides the investigator through the labyrinths of interpretation and evidence that will allow to decipher the enigma itself.
